Armed Forces in West Berkshire
West Berkshire Council is working closely with the military, past and present, and their families.
'Our aim is to improve the prosperity of service personnel, their families, veterans and reservists in our community'
The Armed Forces Community in West Berkshire
With over 4,000 veterans, West Berkshire has a significant military community living and working in the area. There are a number of military units in the area including 77th Brigade based at Denison Barracks in Hermitage, reserves and cadets units.
We are committed to supporting our military communities across the area; this is underwritten by our Armed Forces Covenant and our representation and support to the Royal County of Berkshire Civilian Military Partnership. Find out more on the pages below.
Recently moved to West Berkshire?
If you have recently been posted to this area or have decided to settle here after leaving the forces, you can find out more about the area on our Welcome to West Berkshire pages.
Armed Forces Military champions
We also support the military community by having an Armed Forces Champion. The purpose of this role is to help forge better communication between West Berkshire Council, military residents, serving personnel, veterans and their families, and our military bases.
Our Armed Forces champion is Councillor Stephanie Steevenson. Contact: armedforces@westberks.gov.uk.
