Local elections 2027

The next scheduled district and parish council elections in West Berkshire will take place on Thursday 6 May 2027, subject to any changes arising from government's local government re-organisation.

Elections in 2026

There are no local elections in West Berkshire in 2026. This is a normal part of the local election cycle.

District Council elections

Council meeting in progress
2026 is a fallow year for West Berkshire Council, meaning there are no district council or parish elections scheduled for Thursday 7 May 2026. West Berkshire Council elects all 43 councillors every four years, with the next scheduled elections due in 2027.

You may see information online or in the media about elections taking place in neighbouring areas and wonder why none are listed for West Berkshire. This is completely normal, as different councils hold elections in different years.

Politically, the council is currently composed of 28 Liberal Democrats, 11 Conservatives, 2 Green Party, 1 Labour and 1 Independent councillor. You can find details of  local councillor and council meetings, on our website.

Future changes

The next scheduled district council elections are due to take place on Thursday 6 May 2027, subject to any potential changes resulting from local government re‑organisation.

Parish Council elections are not affected by government re-organisation.

By-elections

By-elections can occur in any district, ward or parish if a serving councillor resigns, dies or is disqualified, thereby creating a 'casual vacancy'.
