Safe Places Scheme

West Berkshire Council, Thames Valley Police and Newbury BID are working in partnership with a number of businesses across West Berkshire to transform them into 'Safe Places' - becoming part of an accessible network of support where people 16 years and over who are feeling intimidated, at risk or scared can take refuge or request support. Libraries and Leisure Centres along with town centre pubs, have signed up to join the scheme.
Whether it's to seek safety, to call a friend, ask a member of staff to call a cab or even dial 999 - these are places where you will be welcomed, and support will be provided.
The Safe Places scheme is managed by West Berkshire Council and is part of the Safe Places National Network.

The Safe Place App is free and can be downloaded from both the App Store and Google Play. The App has 'Get me to my nearest Safe Place' button which immediately directs you to the nearest open Safe Place. If no Safe Place is located within a 15 minutes walk it will automatically offer to call the Police non-emergency 101 number to get help over the phone.
You can download the Safe Place App from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store using the links below.
