Grass cutting schedules

Grass verges on highways

We cut grass verges in urban areas five times per season (April to November). We cut verges on rural roads twice a year.

You can see the verges we maintain our online map.

The dates below show the approximate dates when each cut takes place (these dates will vary from year to year due to climate and weather conditions):

  • 1st cut: mid-March
  • 2nd cut: end of May
  • 3rd cut: late July
  • 4th cut: mid-September
  • 5th cut: late October

The schedule for rural verges follows the Plantlife management guidelines for grassland road verges.

If you notice a problem with a grass verge, report it to us online.
