Bidding for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds

Second round of CIL bid process for 2023/24

The closing date for the CIL Bids was 5pm on Monday 14 November.

We're delighted to announce that our third round of grants for local infrastructure projects is now open.

Since 2021, we've put aside a million and a half pounds of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) money, a charge we receive from new developments, to go towards community projects.

This funding stream is separate to the allocation of Strategic CIL and is open to community groups, other infrastructure providers/partners in West Berkshire, Ward Members, Town and Parish Councils and organisations that wish to deliver infrastructure to benefit the residents and businesses of the area, primarily helping support and deliver the Council's development plan.

We've been asking communities to bid for some of this income to benefit the area you live in and have been impressed by the excellent ideas and projects you've come up with, many of which are already completed

To date, we've approved a total of almost £1 million in community grants ranging from £10k to £100k. Successful bids included the renovation of village halls, scout huts and improvements to sports and playground facilities.

We're now allocating a further £500,000 from our budget and are inviting bids from community groups to bid for the cash.

We'll be accepting bids from £10,000 to £100,000 between Monday 26th September until 5pm on Monday 14th November.
