Parenting Groups

'Time Out - Primary Years'

This is a 6-week parenting course to help guide parents through their child's next stage of childhood and build stronger family relationships as they journey through the rollercoaster of life. Focussing on children from 5 to 11 years, the programme helps parents look at how to support their child as they start to find out how the world works, learn how to manage their feelings, find out what they're good at and experience the consequences of keeping or breaking the rules.

'Time Out - Dads'

This is a 5-week parenting programme looking at how Dads can improve their understanding of how to meet their child's needs, including learning and development. Exploring other key aspects including building self-esteem and positive communication, setting and maintaining boundaries, and managing behaviours. An opportunity to think about how a fathers role might change as the child grows and ways to build a healthy relationship with the wider family.

'Time Out - Anger'

This is a 4-week parenting programme looking at how anger can threaten family life and can cause families to lose trust in each other and drift apart. The training will help parents understand anger as a natural emotion and how you can handle this safely using practical strategies and the idea of an anger river. Parents will understand how anger affects them, how to recognise when they enter the anger river and practical and tested ways of handling anger safely and healthily. The course helps both parents and children understand how to manage their anger in safe and healthy ways.

Please contact your local primary school who may offer these courses or alternatively the family hubs run courses throughout the year.
