A4 Western Avenue - footway and cycle improvements
We have developed detailed proposals for footway and cycle highway improvements on a section of A4 Western Avenue between Waitrose Roundabout and Robin Hood Roundabout. Please see the scheme drawing:
.The proposed scheme will seek to remove the current staggered signalised crossing on the A4 and replace it with a straight-ahead signalised crossing adjacent to Speenhamland School. A new parallel signalised crossing, to be used by both pedestrians and cyclists, is also proposed at the entrance to Oxford Road.
This facility would link the existing dedicated cycle lanes west of Waitrose Roundabout with the proposed new dedicated cycle lane between Waitrose Roundabout and Dolman Road. Further works include the widening of footways, new signs, road markings and vegetation clearance/cutting back.
