Primary School Allocations
The number of children given a place at their preferred primary school has remained consistently high, with 94% getting their first choice school

The proportion of children given a place at their preferred primary school has remained consistently high, with West Berkshire Council allocating the first choice place in 94% of cases.
Parents will know which school their children have been allocated this week. This year, 1,556 applications were made by the parents of children starting school in September, of these, 1,464 children were given a place at their first-choice school.
Speaking about the allocation of primary school places, Michelle Sancho, Acting Head of Education Services at West Berkshire Council says,
"Moving to primary school can be exciting and stressful for children and parents. Choosing the right primary school for a child is something parents think about very carefully, so I'm delighted that once again, we've been able to offer almost all their first choice.
"Education is a priority in West Berkshire. We know that giving children a place at a preferred school is a great start to their formal education and, as a Local Education Authority, we are proud of our consistently high results with matching parents' choices and local capacity."
