Adoption of the Compton Neighbourhood Development Plan
Future development in Compton Parish will be shaped by the Compton Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) after it was adopted by West Berkshire District Council as part of its Development Plan for West Berkshire.
NDPs are formal planning documents that allow local people to shape the future of the areas in which they live. Compton parish council, alongside its residents, have been working together to create a NDP for Compton to help shape the growth and improvement of the local area.
On Thursday 10 February 2022, the local community of Compton voted on whether they wanted West Berkshire District Council to use the NDP to help them decide planning applications in the parish. Residents voted significantly in favour of using the NDP, with 588 people voting 'Yes' and 9 voting 'No'. Turnout was 48.9%.
