ARG Challenge Fund Launched
West Berkshire Council offer grants of up to £25,000 to businesses to support green growth and recovery.
We are delighted to announce that businesses in West Berkshire may now apply for grants from a new scheme called the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) Challenge Fund, which aims to support environmentally friendly economic recovery and growth.
Since November 2020, we have distributed over £5 million to businesses across West Berkshire through Additional Restriction Grants (ARG) to help with the recovery from Covid. This new scheme runs alongside our original ARG policy, which businesses can still apply for if they are experiencing hardship.
Through the Challenge Fund businesses, whether a sole trader or a limited company, will be able to apply for grants ranging from £5,000 to £25,000. The funding will be paid upfront towards projects that allows the business to recover and grow in an environmentally friendly way.
We hope to see innovative, high-impact proposals which will have a significant impact on ensuring local businesses can continue to thrive and work better for the future as we come out of the pandemic. Improvements such as new equipment to expand your business or developing digital marketing, or e-commerce opportunities to reach new customers are just a few ideas that local businesses can implement under this funding.
Businesses are invited to apply from 13 December to 13 February 2022. This will be followed by a review and payment period in March 2022. Applicants must submit a full proposal in line with the Council's eligibility criteria which can be found here.
Cllr Lynne Doherty, Leader of West Berkshire Council, said:
"Ensuring economic recovery and renewal is a top priority within our Recovery Strategy.
"The Challenge fund supports this priority and encourages environmentally friendly initiatives so I am thrilled we are able to offer this innovative new scheme for local businesses.
"It is our hope that every business has the means to achieve green growth and recovery, and that this funding will help along the way to ensure businesses remain resilient to what the future holds."
