Update - Road Closed 25th September
The closure will be permitted from 7am through to 7pm on Saturday 25th September 2021.
On the 25th September 2021, West Berkshire Council's (WBC) term maintenance contractor Volker Highways (VH) will be starting highway improvements within the centre of the A339 from Pinchington Lane Roundabout to the alleyway at the southern end of Deadmans Lane. This phase of the works is currently scheduled to last until October 9th 2021 and will include new island kerbing, traffic signal infrastructure and other civils elements.
In order to protect the work force undertaking these improvements the current protective guardrail system will be moved to the centre of the A339. This will continue to reduce the carriageway to one lane in each direction. To safely undertake the move a full road closure is required from Pinchington Lane Roundabout to The Swan Roundabout. The closure will be permitted from 7am through to 7pm on Saturday 25th September 2021. A signed diversion route will be in place whilst the road closure is operational. Access to residential dwellings within the closure area and emergency vehicles on a blue light will be permitted at all times.
Unfortunately as with most major highway related schemes such as this, a certain level of disruption and noise is sadly inevitable and this may be intensified given the works that will be undertaken as outlined above.
