Online Payments

This system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week although it may be unavailable for short periods to enable essential maintenance.

This scheme aims to ensure that you have a safe and secure payment experience.

At West Berkshire Council we strive to ensure the highest level of security possible for all credit and debit card transactions.  To enhance our high standards of security we have introduced Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode.

These initiatives have been introduced by the banks to help protect your card against unauthorised use by allowing you to set-up a personal password for your card.

If you have already registered, you may be asked to enter your personal password during the online payment process in order to progress the transaction.

When your card issuer has confirmed your identity you will be returned to the West Berkshire Council website to complete the transaction process.

Online Payments

How to make a payment:

In order to make a payment, you will need to provide the account reference(s) for the items that you wish to pay - so please have these available. Your references can be found on your Council Tax Bill, General Invoice, Business Rates Bill or Car Parking Fine Notice.

You may pay for more than one item in a single transaction before progressing to the next step where you will be asked to enter your card details.

Select the type of item that you are paying from the menu on the left side of the page. This will then show the details you are required to enter for that item type. Please enter the account reference without leaving any spaces between the numbers. Complete the details on the page - mandatory fields are marked with * and click the 'Add to List' button to add the payment to the Payment Review List which appears below.

Entering an amount:

Please note: the amount should be entered as pounds and pence - e.g. £30.50 should be entered as 30.50

When you have added all the payments you wish to make, click the 'Pay' button to proceed to enter your card details.

Card details:

Enter your card details without leaving any spaces between the numbers. Newly issued debit cards may not have an issue number so in this case, please leave the issue number box blank.

Whilst your payment is being processed please do not use your browser back and forward buttons to navigate through the pages; use the buttons provided on the pages themselves

Name and Address details:

You are required to enter the name stated on the card and the card holder's address. Address information expires when the session is ended and is not available to any other users.

Should you omit any essential information, you will be informed of this by messages in red that will appear at the top of the page. If you click on the message it will take you to the field in question, where you can make adjustments.

Review and confirm your payment:

You will be required to check that the details that you have entered are correct. You will have the opportunity to go back to the card details; confirm or cancel the transaction. No card fee will be applied to this transaction.

Successful payment:

If your payment has been successfully processed a confirmation screen will be displayed with details of your payment, including your receipt number. This receipt number is a 12 digit reference where the first four digits will be ZZWP. You will be provided with the option of e-mailing or printing a receipt.

If you do not see your receipt number then your payment has not been successful. If you are in any doubt or have experienced any difficulty with completing your transaction please telephone 01635 519595. This number is available from Monday to Thursday between 9.00 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. and on a Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. or alternatively send an email to cashiers@westberks.gov.uk.


To finish your payment and restart another task, click Finish.
