Disabled Facilities

The Council offers a range of grants and loans to assist West Berkshire residents.

This section provides information on the different types of grants and loans that are available, subject to funds.

The Private Sector Housing Policy policy sets out the support and assistance offered by the Council to residents to improve and maintain their homes. As part of the consultation for the policy, we held a series of focus groups with local people to find out how we can improve the service further. These groups were very helpful and have resulted in a number of changes and actions. On the right of this page is a summary of the feedback from the focus groups and the actions that we are taking to improve the service.

► Disabled Facilities Grants

Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) of up to £30,000 are available for work that is needed to help a disabled person live more independently in their own home.

► Energy Efficiency

With growing concerns about climate change, West Berkshire Council has a duty to promote energy efficiency. By making your homes energy efficient, you can not only help the environment, but you can make significant savings on your fuel bills too!

► Other housing related grants

Subject to funding, the Council offers a number of grants to help West Berkshire residents with various housing circumstances, subject to available funds. The different types of grants available are outlined below. You will only be considered for a grant if you are not eligible for a Flexible Home Improvement Loan. All of our grants attract a charge on the property.
