Health & Medical advice

West Berkshire Council works closely with colleagues in Health services, but does not directly provide Health services. The Primary Care Trust (PCT) is the local health organisation which arranges and funds health care.

The PCT buys services from other Health organisations, such as the Royal Berkshire Hospital, the Berkshire Health Care Trust (which specialises in Mental Health care), and the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Berkshire West PCT covers a large area including Newbury, Reading and Wokingham. We provide health services in the community, at home and in hospitals.

Health Promotion in Berkshire
This site brings together news and information on the many NHS health promotion services available across Berkshire.

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) provides free, informal, confidential help and advice for patients, carers and their families.

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SCAS) is part of the NHS.
