About The Nature Discovery Centre
The Nature Discovery Centre opened in 1995 and currently attracts over 75 000 visitors each year. A further estimated 75 000 visitors use the surrounding site for recreational activities throughout the year.
The building was refurbished in 2007 giving the centre new features designed to make the building more sustainable and energy efficient and to reduce its impact on the local environment. To find out more about these take a look at our sustainability features page.
The Nature Discovery Centre is open to the public throughout the year to offer a fantastic day out for all the family. We have a large network of footpaths ranging from small family friendly walks to longer ones designed for the more adventurous. If wildlife is your thing the bird hide offers a perfect opportunity to watch the world go by or for the young ones duck food can be purchased from the shop.
Our fantastic visitor centre is packed full of interactive wildlife and natural history displays, giant jigsaw puzzles and wildlife brass rubbings. Come inside to learn to identify bird calls, calculate your carbon footprint and learn more about West Berkshire's beautiful countryside sites.
