▼ Whacky Scrap Races - Rocket Challenge
Starting on 6 Feb at 10:30 for 2 hours every 7 days until 3 Apr
► Free family fun sessions on Saturday mornings!
Join in these free Saturday morning family fun sessions and make a model rocket in a bid to see whose team will fly the furthest at the grand final in March 2010. Over the 8 weeks other art & craft activities will include making a space themed frieze, supplementary small-scale pa pier macho rockets , scrapbooks, badges and much more. Teams sizes of 2-6 are able to take part from the age of 5 upwards. All materials are provided and the use of recycled materials from home is also encouraged. A free creche is available for the under 5s. Transport costs can be covered for those on free school meals and for families with children with special needs.

Camp Adventure is a fun filled week of activities where children can attend for a full day or half day. Activities include football drills, table tennis, trampolining, face painting, salt dough creations and even pancake making and tasting! Open from 8.30am - 5.30 pm there are activities to suit all ages. Participating centres are as follows: Willink, Downland, Hungerford, Cotswold, Northcroft, Kennet & Theale.

Come along to Basildon park and join in the half term fun! Activities will be based on a statues and stonework theme. Find out all about our £1 million stonework conservation project. Take part in cleaning our statues and craft activities. On 20, 21, 27 & 28 Feb, watch stonemasons in action and find out more about the traditional techniques they are using to save Basildon's glorious mansion.

► Join in the Street Active sessions which are being held in venues throughout West Berkshire during half term.
Street Active sessions are free of charge for young people 11 years old and older at venues throughout West Berkshire. It gives young people an opportunity to try a leisure activity during their school holidays. Past Street Active programmes have included Canoeing, Indoor Climbing, Basketball, Mountain Boarding, Angling, Orienteering and DJ Workshops.

► Make your own Nest Box
For half-term Beale Park is hosting National Nest Box week, a campaign organised by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). The BTO started "National Nest Box Week" 10 years ago, with the aim of making us think about the birds that we see and to remind us to help them, by encouraging us to build and put up nest boxes for them to live in, which enables them to breed and promotes the conservation of our wildlife. Visitors will be offered the chance to make their own Nest Box in the Park (for a small additional charge) on Tuesday 16th February and leaflets from the BTO will also be available to the public explaining why nest boxes are so important and with instructions on how to make a box at home.

► East Midlands Children's Theatre Consortium at The Corn Exchange
A playful introduction to dance, Telling Tales takes a fresh look at two well-loved children's stories, alongside two new dance pieces. Look out for a mischievous version of the famous Hare and The Tortoise; a dressing-up game involving a squabble over the biggest overcoat you've ever seen; and a speed version of The Golden Goose involving only two dancers but a cast of thousands. In the finale, Sea of Clothes, shirts and skirts take on a dancing life of their own!

► Shove Tuesday - Pancake races
Teams of four are invited to enter (entry fee £20 per team), preferably in fancy dress. The races will begin at 12 noon. If you would like to sponsor and name a race (£50 per race), it would be greatly appreciated. There are three awards available. Newbury pancake champions for 2010, the best dressed team for 2010 and pancake tosser of the Year!

► Carousel at John O'Gaunt Community & Technology College Hall
From the magical evocation of the carousel in the overture, to the majestic and moving strains of the immortal "You'll Never Walk Alone", this giant of the musical stage remains timeless and star bright. The poignant story of the faithful Julie and her brutish husband Billy is one of the most powerful books of the musical theatre and perfectly matches its extraordinary score. Famous songs include "Mister Snow", "If I Loved You", "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "When The Children Are Asleep".

► Bring Science alive!
Go to the Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre and see the mad antics of the Make it Lady, she's visiting during half term to bring science alive. There are 2 sessions. 11.30am Balancing Parrots - Have you ever wondered how birds can balance on the thinnest of branches? Standby to travel from the centre of the earth to the weightlessness of space. Once the children have come back down again they can use all they have learnt to make a balancing parrot. 2pm Kitchen Chemistry - You have never seen floating and sinking experiments like this before. Eggs, lemons, raisins and raspberries will reveal their inner mysteries. We'll be looking for volunteers to help with experiments. Be prepared to get a bit wet. All experiments can be repeated at home.

► Kennet Amateur Theatrical Society presents Cinderella 2 After the Ball
Have you ever wondered what happens when the fairytale ends? Is there a 'happy ever after?' Two evil witches have moved into the kingdom of Donnington and set about making everyone unhappy. Cackling with success, they are unaware that Prince Charming, along with this clumsy Uncle Hazzy, the ever hungry Rumble and his trusty steed Flash (the panto Horse) travel into the Doomed Forest on a quest to stop them.

► Make you own broomstick!
Enjoy a relaxed session making your own 'broomstick'. The day will start with a trip to Crookham Common to look at the areas used for many years for this once thriving industry and cut your own materials. The second part of the session takes place back at the workshop where you can assemble your materials into a working broom.

Family Active sessions are free of charge for families with children over 5 years of age and take place at venues throughout West Berkshire. Past Family programmes have included Archery, Canoeing, Indoor Climbing, T shirt Printing, Golf, Cycling, Angling, Orienteering and Sound Studio.

► Monkeyshock
The Burghfield Community Sports Association is holding a charity night with the music of Monkeyshock, who play music from the 50's to the present from R&B to pop. A raffle will also be held during the evening and all the moneys raised will be donated to the meningitis trust. A full bar menu will be available on the night.
