Housing

The Council works closely with several Housing Associations (Registered Social Landlords) to help provide new social housing in the district and to provide specialist housing services for people with a range of support needs.

New housing

West Berkshire Council is running a survey to find out what residents really think about housing in the district: old, new, rented or owned. This is your opportunity to tell us what is and is not important to you, and to tell us what housing services you think we should, and should not, be providing.

This is the register of people who want a home from one of the housing associations in West Berkshire. This used to be called the Housing waiting list. This page explains how you can register. You can follow a link from this page to the Homechoice West Berkshire website.

Council Tax helps pay for local services.

You can use this form to notify us of a change of address or a move to a property within West Berkshire.

The Housing Operations Team provides housing advice to anyone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness. The team aims to prevent homelessness by referring to specialist services, or helping people access accommodation.

The Council offers a range of grants and loans to assist West Berkshire residents.

The Housing Operations Team provide advice on a range of housing issues.

Housing and Council Tax Benefits are intended to help people on low incomes meet their housing costs. You can find out more about these benefits on this website.

The Council has a responsibility to ensure an appropriate balance of good quality housing, that is accessible and provides variety and choice across all tenures.. The strategic housing role requires the Council to understand local housing markets, assess current and future housing needs and to work with others to commission, fund and coordinate activities that will secure mixed, balanced and sustainable communities.

Supporting People logo
Supporting People is a network of organisations that offer housing-related support to vulnerable people. Decent housing is essential to a decent life. But at some point in their lives, many people also need help and support to live safely and happily in their accommodation.
