The Nature Discovery Centre

The Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham is the perfect place for a day out. Whatever you prefer to do- walk, feed the ducks, or let off steam on our adventure playgrounds, there's something for everyone.

Nature Discovery Centre

The summer holidays may be over but it's still the perfect time to enjoy The Nature Discovery Centre. The visitor centre, with cafe, hands-on exhibits and a varied and ever changing calendar of activities provides an ideal base. While our fantastic adventure playgrounds, network of footpaths and wildlife offer many opportunities to enjoy the fresh air at any time of year. 

Opening Times                                                    

April - October 10am - 5pm

November- March 11am-4pm

Open Tuesday- Sunday. Closed Mondays.

Admission

Admission to the centre and car parking are free. Donations are welcome.

Charges apply for autumn/winter events.

What's On

The holidays may be over but there's still plenty of fun to be had at The Nature Discovery Centre! We've got a fantastic program of events planned for the Autumn and Winter months. Highlights include Think Green, Act Green on 11th September, a day to show you all the small and easy changes you can make to have a 'greener' lifestyle with a bit of fun thrown in and The Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009 Exhibition open from 2nd- 31st October, a chance to view the stunning exhibition which showcases the best of the entries. Take a look at the events pages for more information or download our Autumn/Winter News and Events leaflet.

Staying for the day?

The Lakeside Cafe offers a range of delicious sandwiches, paninis, soups and salads as well as homemade cakes and cream teas.  Visit Rosemary and her team and enjoy fantastic food in beautiful surroundings. We also have plenty of space to picnic outside.

How to get here

The Centre is off Lower Way in Thatcham, easily accessible from the A4 and close to Newbury. You can find a map and more detailed directions in the download section on the right hand side of the page.
