Nature Discovery Centre
Welcome to the Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham.
The Nature Discovery Centre has a wonderful lakeside setting. The visitor centre, with cafe, hands-on exhibits and a varied and ever changing calendar of activities provides an ideal base for a day out. Our fantastic adventure playgrounds, network of footpaths and wildlife offer many opportunities to enjoy the fresh air at any time of year.
The Lakeside Cafe offers a range of delicious sandwiches, paninis, soups and salads as well as homemade cakes and cream teas. Visit Rosemary and her team and enjoy fantastic food in beautiful surroundings.
Thank goodness that spring is here at last! At the Discovery Centre there's a wonderful selection of things to get you out of the house this season. We've got an even more action packed program planned for the spring and summer months including a special Easter trail, a visiting Planetarium and Martin Rapley is back by popular demand to introduce you to a whole variety of animals. Fair-Trade- The Big Swap Saturday 6th March 11am-4pm
Come and join us for a fair trade swap. Find out how easy it is to swap your everyday products for the fair trade equivalent and discover some yummy chocolate treats you can make! Free drop in event, no need to book.
April
Easter Trail Thursday 1st until Sunday 18th April.
Hop your way around the Easter trail and answer questions on what you see. Don't forget to return to the centre to see what the Easter bunny has left behind. £1.00 per trail.
Bush Craft Holiday Club Friday 9th April 10am-4pm
An amazing opportunity to enjoy a whole day during the school holidays with enthusiastic woodland practitioner Ruth Parsons. Learn how to build a den, make a fire and cook campfire snacks. Suitable for boys and girls aged 8 to 14 years. Booking and registration essential. £25.00.
