Animal Welfare Licences
These Licences ensure good standards of safety and animal welfare.
Premises boarding cats and dogs (catteries and kennels) require a licence from the Council.
A person requires a licence from the Council if they keep a 'dangerous wild animal' as specified in the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976.
A person requires a dog-breeding licence from the Council if they carry on a business of breeding dogs for sale.
Pet shops and any other businesses offering pets for sale require a licence from the Council.
Stables which hire out horses or ponies for riding or instruction require a licence from the Council.
