The Education Service Home to School Transport Team is responsible for processing applications for free Home-to-School Transport. Within the following pages you will find details on ways of getting your child to school.
How to Apply
Applications must be made using the online form. Please note if you have applied for and already been awarded free home to school transport, there is no need to re-apply each year as bus passes are renewed automatically. However, if there is a change to home address or school you will need to put in a new application. There are three forms to choose from.
If you are a West Berkshire resident and your child is going to a school in West Berkshire (for FREE Transport), use this form:Transport Application Form - West Berkshire School.
If you are a West Berkshire resident and your child is going to a school outside of West Berkshire (for FREE Transport), use this form:Transport Application Form - Non West Berkshire School.
If you are applying for a FARE PAYER SEAT use this form Application for School Transport Farepaying Scheme (2013/14) .

The Council does not provide transport for non-West Berkshire resident pupils.
Each request for assistance with Home to School Transport is considered on an individual basis. An online application form must be completed and submitted for assessment of eligibility. Please read the Home to school Transport Policy which is available below if you think your child is eligible for free or assisted transport.
Please allow at least 8 working days for an entitlement decision to be made, following receipt of your completed application.
If you are applying for Transport for September 2013, please be aware that during this peak period it will take longer to process your application.
Please note that we cannot process an application for transport to a school unless a school place has already been allocated and we cannot process an application for transport from an address at which you and the child are not currently residing. If you do not qualify for a free place, you can apply for a fare payer place.
The Council's two discretionary fare payer schemes for school pupil and post-16 students have been merged into a single Fare Payer scheme for September 2013, and the rules have been amended. The new Scheme can be found within the downloads on the right hand side of this page. All applications must be made using the online form.
