Terrific Tudors at Shaw House
Shaw House in Newbury will be hosting a summer of Tudor events to celebrate 420 years since Queen Elizabeth I's visit there in 1592.
Issued on: 17 July 2012
The special Summer exhibition 'Monarch on the Move: Elizabeth I's visit to Shaw House' is a family friendly exhibition with dressing up, games and activities there is plenty to keep everyone entertained. It tells the story of her Royal progress around the South of England and her two day stay in Newbury, showing how she travelled, what she took with her and what it was like for the people she stayed with.
To complement this exhibition Shaw House will be holding special family activity days every Wednesday in August where families can find out more about the 'Terrific Tudors' and explore Tudor fashion, food, games and jewellery.
As a finale to this exciting Summer programme there will be a special Bank Holiday weekend event 'Tudors on Tour'. Visitors will come face to face with people from the past and join costumed re-enactors from the award winning 'Past Pleasures' team.
