Travel Guides - bus timetable book and accessibility information
West Berkshire Council's District-wide Travel Guide (incorporating local bus timetables and travel information), Public Transport Map and the Getting There Guide, which provides information about accessible door-to-door transport for people with restricted mobility.
The Council's Travel and Transport Guides, together with the Public Transport Map, are available to view and print by going to the Downloads section, which can be found on the right hand side of this page.
The 'District-wide Travel Guide' contains the bus timetables for West Berkshire, as well as rail network information, contact details for bus and train operators and a schematic map of the local public transport network. Please note in particular the following changes in particular, which are shown in the District-wide Travel Guide:
- Service 47 linking Lambourn with Swindon, operated by Thamesdown Transport, was withdrawn after Saturday 26 October 2013 due to major funding changes by Swindon Borough Council. It has been partly replaced by adapting and extending service 90, operated by GoRide, from 28 October onwards;
- Service 90, operated by GoRide Community Interest Company in the Lambourn area, was adapted on and from Monday 28 October 2013 to operate between Lambourn and Swindon as well as between Lambourn and Hungerford. An extra vehicle is being used; and
- Services 101, 104 and 105 linking Newbury, West Berks Hospital, north Thatcham, Thatcham Broadway and villages east of Thatcham with Calcot and Tilehurst, will have a slightly adjusted timetable from 23 December 2013, following re-tendering of the contract to operate this group of services. Again, full details are contained in the Travel Guide.
We recommend that you plan your journey in advance using the Traveline public transport journey planner online, or by telephone on 0871 200 22 33 (calls cost 10 pence per minute plus network extras), or by contacting the bus operator directly, before travelling.
The 'Getting There Guide' provides details of accessible, door-to-door community transport services intended for people with restricted mobility, such as HandyBus and ReadiBus. The purpose of the 'Getting There Guide' is to enable customers and in particular those with mobility and sensory impairments, to access transport services in West Berkshire more easily.
If you require a hard copies of the Guides, please fill out the online request form 'Request Travel Guide Form' link to the right of this page. Alternatively, hard copies of the Guides are normally available from West Berkshire libraries and Council Offices, or from the Tourist Information office at The Wharf in Newbury. We regret that we are not however able to supply hard copies of the Public Transport Map.
The information contained in the Travel and Transport Guides is checked at the time of going to print. However, it is advisable to check the latest timetables for local bus services before you travel, using Traveline or by contacting the bus operator - see details above or follow the links on the right of this page.
