Download eBooks and audiobooks free of charge

The West Berkshire eLibrary service enables you to download eBooks and audiobooks FREE of charge.  We stock a wide and ever increasing range of titles in several formats. All you need to get started is an internet connection, your library membership card number and your PIN. Just go to our eLibrary catalogue to get started.

You can enjoy our digital titles on a wide range of devices, including your computer, iPad, smartphone, eReader or MP3 player (including an iPod). You can now use the Overdrive app on Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD. Please see the full list of compatible devices for more information.

Titles are borrowed for between 7 and 21 days - you choose - and then automatically returned.  No overdue charges are ever made as no item can be kept beyond its loan period.

You can download titles and find details of all our eBooks and audiobooks in our eLibrary catalogue.

We've got titles for children and adults, fiction and non-fiction, with new stock being added regularly.

In addition to current best-sellers, you can also download numerous classic titles such as books by Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Hans Christian Anderson and others.  Follow the link to 'Additional eBooks' on the bottom left hand side of the eLibrary catalogue for these.

You can also place reservations for items currently on loan and we will email you when these become available.

The most popular book borrowed from our eLibrary so far this year is 'One Shot' (Jack Reacher Series Book 9) by Lee Child.  Have you read it yet?

If you are not already a member of West Berkshire Libraries and you are 16 or over, you can join online now.

If you live in West Berkshire and you are joining online, please note that your library membership card will be posted to you. Full details about this are included here.

If you live outside West Berkshire, you can still join our eLibrary.  After joining online you will need to visit a West Berkshire library to collect your membership card.

You will need your library membership card and your PIN to borrow books from our eLibrary.
