The 'Connect' logo denotes bus services on which the Council's 'Connect Day', 'Connect-7' seven-day and 'Connect-30' period tickets are valid. 'Connect' is the overall brand for West Berkshire's bus network. Bus services in West Berkshire are operated either commercially by the bus companies, or are financially supported by the Council. In general, bus services linking Newbury and Thatcham with Reading, services connecting Newbury with Basingstoke, services linking Mortimer and Burghfield Common with Reading, and services in Purley, Tilehurst and Calcot, are operated commercially. Other bus services in the District are operated with financial support from West Berkshire Council. The Council has a range of 'Connect' Day, 7-day and 30-day tickets that are sold and accepted on many local bus services. Passenger trains serving the railway stations within West Berkshire are presently operated by First Great Western.

Transport is provided for residents of West Berkshire by the voluntary sector through a series of car and minibus schemes, primarily focused on assisting the elderly and mobility impaired who are unable to access public and private transport.
West Berkshire Council operates concessionary schemes as follows: People of eligible age qualify for a free National Off-Peak Bus Pass. Also any person with a disability who is 5+ years will be eligible for the National Off-Peak Bus Pass or a Local Companion Pass. Applicants must reside permanently in the West Berkshire area. We will automatically be issuing renewal passes to all customers between February and March 2013.
The Education Transport Team is responsible for the planning and organisation of school transport for all eligible pupils and students, whether they are attending a mainstream school or college, or a school for pupils with special educational needs. Transport is provided in accordance with the policies of West Berkshire Council. The arrangements are made in such a way as to maximise the efficiency and cost effectiveness of service provision.
