Protecting the Safety of the Community
We aim to ensure:

• Controls aimed at preventing diseases are complied with
• Welfare standards are met on farm, in transport and at slaughter
• Plans are in place to manage outbreaks of diseases such as Foot and Mouth, Rabies, Avian Influenza etc.
• Tobacco control requirements and targets are being met with our partnership organisations . Our smoking and drinking survey 2012 shows data from 7 Berkshire West Secondary School: 5 in West Berkshire, 1 in Wokingham and 1 in Reading.
• Our communities are aware of the risk of cold-callers (eg. rogue traders)
• Partnership working to publicise the risks involved with underage, binge and excessive drinking
• We work with retailers  and award them in our Responsible Retailer Scheme to recognise efforts they put in to help prevent underage sales

Protecting the Environment
We aim to ensure:

• Green claims are accurate
• Energy certificates for properties are used correctly
• Goods vehicles are not overloaded
• HGVs do not breach weight restrictions on roads
