Protecting the Safety of the Community
We aim to ensure:
- Controls aimed at preventing diseases are complied with
- Welfare standards are met on farm, in transport and at slaughter
- Plans are in place to manage outbreaks of diseases such as Foot and Mouth, Rabies, Avian Influenza etc.
- Tobacco control requirements and targets are being met with our partnership organisations . Our smoking and drinking survey 2012 shows data from 7 Berkshire West Secondary School: 5 in West Berkshire, 1 in Wokingham and 1 in Reading.
- Our communities are aware of the risk of cold-callers (eg. rogue traders)
- Partnership working to publicise the risks involved with underage, binge and excessive drinking
- We work with retailers and award them in our Responsible Retailer Scheme to recognise efforts they put in to help prevent underage sales
Protecting the Environment
We aim to ensure:
- Green claims are accurate
- Energy certificates for properties are used correctly
- Goods vehicles are not overloaded
- HGVs do not breach weight restrictions on roads
