Community planning conference - 6th March 9.30 - 3.30pm at Chieveley Village Hall

The Community Council for Berkshire (CCB) with support from the West Berkshire Partnership is holding the annual Community Planning Conference on 6th March 9.30 -3.30pm at Chieveley Village Hall

CCB

Issued on 5 March 2010

The event is expected to attract around ninety West Berkshire delegates from communities and agencies and will promote and celebrate the many successful community projects resulting from the development of community plans.

Elaine Cook, Chief Executive of CCB said,"Saturday's conference is about communities doing it for themselves and not relying on others for solutions. The increasing pressure on villages with shops, post offices and pubs closing makes it more important than ever for communities to plan for the future and take up the chance to maximise future opportunities. Communities need a vision for their future and this conference will provide some really useful advice on how to make the vision a reality."

Organiser Sarah Ward, the CCB's Development Worker, has put together an interesting day with workshops on some of the 'big issues' facing communities. Hot topics such as the ageing community, the economic impact of the 2012 Olympics and how to 'green our community' will be discussed.

On the day, CCB and The Berkshire Association of Clubs for Young People will launch a new initiative to listen and respond to young people through the Speak Out Youth Project. A range of funders will also be on hand to answer queries about project funding sources.
