New status pages to keep residents informed
The recent severe weather saw more people than ever use West Berkshire Council's website and lot of work was carried out during this period to bring the latest information to residents as quickly as possible

In fact, the Society of Public Sector IT Managers has recently highlighted the site as an example of good practice.
As a result the Council is launching a new page which will enable residents to see the status of the Council's most used services, at a glance. Care homes, leisure centres, libraries, schools and waste services are all included in a quick and easy to read format linking to more detailed information about individual establishments and services.
The website facility has been designed so that residents can see if West Berkshire's main services are running as normal and when factors such as weather conditions are having an impact, as well as the reason for any changes.
David Betts, West Berkshire Executive Councillor for ICT said: "Making it easier to find key information about the Council means that not only do residents get a better service but front-line staff have more time to help to get their service back to normal. It's just one extra way to let people know what is happening."
The same information will also be published on Twitter, Facebook and on an RSS feed so residents can get the latest information using their preferred medium.
