Funding for Sports Projects

The funding streams below are regularly reviewed and are given as options for you to consider.

Sport England is committed to the creation of a world-leading community sport system. This means focusing investment on organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.

The Football Foundation is the UK's largest sports' charity. Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association and the Government, the Foundation directs £40m every year into grass roots sport

Sports Aid is the charity for sports people, helping the next generation of young British sportsmen and women to succeed.

"The vision of the Foundation is to assist young people under 18 years of age to participate, to the best of their ability, in the sport of their choice irrespective of their social circumstances, culture or ethnicity and to ensure that, in doing so, they improve their chances both inside and outside sport"

The Lord's Taverners is one of the UK's leading youth sports and disability charities and the official charity of recreational cricket. Sport and recreation are essential for young people and our mission is to give a "sporting chance" to those in need. We achieve this by focusing on three key areas namely: Youth cricket in disadvantaged areas; Sports and recreational equipment for young people with special needs and Specially-adapted minibuses for disabled youngsters.

Greenham Common Trust works in close partnership with the local community providing financial support for charitable projects and purposes in West Berkshire and North Hampshire - one classification of grants in the main programme is Recreation and Leisure

This Programme is a nationwide one and applications are accepted from charities throughout the United Kingdom. The Trustees wish to support sporting activities or projects which provide opportunities for people who are disabled or otherwise disadvantaged to fulfil their potential and to develop other personal and life skills. Grants will often be "one off" grants for capital projects. We will, however, also consider revenue funding for a new project or if funding is key to the continuing success or survival of an established project.

Sports clubs play a valuable role in their communities. The CASC scheme recognises this important role by distinguishing between clubs and businesses for rates and tax purposes, ensuring money is kept in sports clubs.

Healthy and Active Parishes is a West Berkshire Council programme established following a successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund's Well Being programme, through the South East Chances4Change portfolio. The programme aims to work with local communities within rural settings in West Berkshire to develop and enhance opportunities for locally provided health and active pursuits.

A number of resources are available which can help a group identify potential sources of funding and provide advise on the application process.
