The Restoration

The restoration of Shaw House was the result of many years of work and research and an intensive 22 months on site. The total cost of the project was in excess of £6 million. Find out more about this amazing project...


Architects
Purcell Miller Tritton and William Sapcote & Sons Ltd were contracted to work on the restoration of Shaw House.

The alterations to Shaw House were related either to the need to improve access to the building, to accommodate changes in use, or to reinstate earlier room layouts and thereby assist interpretation. Care was taken to interfere as little as possible with original features.

Roof before restoration
The scope of repairs was extensive and extends to the whole of the exterior and all interiors.
