Empowerment in Action Conference 2008
As part of the Beacon Project, West Berkshire Council organised a national conference on Wednesday 3 December 2008.
Aimed at local authorities, organisations subject to the Duty to Involve and community and voluntary sector organisations engaged in community development, the day was led by three of the Local Authorities awarded Beacon Status for their excellence in improving services through community engagement - West Berkshire, Shropshire and South Somerset.
During the day, amongst other things, the 'Empowerment in Action' resource pack was launched. The pack, designed to help service providers empower communities through community-led planning, is available from the tab below. Copies will also be available from Lee McQuade (Please see the contact details on the right).
Also during the day, Sylvia Brown, Chief Executive of ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) launched the Community Planning Network, intended to help those interested in Community Led Planning keep up to date with best practice and share research.
