West Berkshire Museum
The Museum is closed for refurbishment so that we can concentrate on sorting, packing and moving the collections before redevelopment and restoration begins.
Supported by a £1.2million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the redevelopment of the Museum is underway. The main contractor started work on site in mid May 2013. This exciting development will deliver a brand new link building to provide updated visitor facilities, a local history discovery space and over ten new galleries which will exhibit and interpret thousands of artefacts.

West Berkshire Museum has been housed in Newbury's 17th century Cloth Hall and 18th Century Corn Stores since the building was restored in 1904.
While the Museum redevelopment is in progress, the Museum is not able to respond to enquiries about the collections or local history while we prepare for refurbishment as all our efforts are on re-locating the collections and planning the redevelopment.
