The Museum is closed for refurbishment so that we can concentrate on sorting, packing and moving the collections before redevelopment and restoration begins.

Following a successful first round application to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) in 2010 the Council appointed Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams Ltd (BFAW) as architects for the Museum redevelopment project and to prepare plans for the major repair and conservation programme.

Museum History
West Berkshire Museum has been housed in Newbury's 17th century Cloth Hall and 18th Century Corn Stores since the building was restored in 1904.

Local History Enquiries
The Museum is not currently able to respond to enquiries about the collections or local history while we prepare for refurbishment as all our efforts are on re-locating the collections and planning the redevelopment.
