Shaw House is ideally situated in a tranquil setting on the north edge of Newbury Shaw House is within an hour's reach of London, Bristol, Oxford and the south coast, just 5 minutes from the M4/A34 junction. It is also within a 20 to 25 minute walk from the town centre and therefore accessible by road and public transport.
Having been carefully adapted for use in the 21st century it is now the venue for seminars, meetings and training sessions organised by West Berkshire Council and other public bodies and organisations. Shaw House is open to the general public on specific days and is also home to West Berkshire Registration Service for Births, Deaths and Ceremonies.
There are nine stunning rooms for hire, all with their own unique character, plenty of natural daylight, adjustable lighting and a restful ambience.
Facilities
Room capacities for 2 to 100 people are available depending on furniture layout required. The technical cabinets incorporate video/DVD, LCD projector and audio equipment in addition to projector screen, TV, power and data connection. There is no additional price for the use of this equipment; your room hire price is all inclusive. Access to the Internet can also be arranged for you for free.
Additionally we can provide display boards, flipchart with paper and pens, interactive whiteboard and pens, all of which are also included in the room hire charge.

Charges for 2010/11
Public Sector Bodies and Community Use £29.75 per room per hour(ex VAT)
Commercial and Private Use £38.75 per room per hour (ex VAT)
- There are no individual delegate rates.
- These rates cover everything except catering and extras like photocopying.
- There are no minimum meeting times, we are happy to accept booking of one or two hours.
Catering
We can provide tea and coffee breaks throughout your meeting accompanied by biscuits, pastries or delicious homemade cakes, from just £1.00 per person. Our tempting lunch menus range from £7.20 to £11.00 a head (until 31st March 2010) and feature delicious sandwiches with various accompaniments depending on the option that you chose. Please do ask if you have special catering requirements.
