The Safer Communities Partnership comprises representatives from a variety of organisations including West Berkshire Council, Thames Valley Police & Police Authority, Berkshire West Primary Care Trust. Thames Valley Probation Service, Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service and Sovereign Housing Association.

Anti-social behaviour is defined as "behaviour which is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not in the same household as the perpetrator". It also includes "fear of crime or concern for public safety, public disorder or public nuisance".

The Council's priorities for dealing with crime, as listed in the Partnership Plan

Domestic abuse is a crime - it is any physical, sexual, emotional or economic abuse that takes place in the home between two individuals.

The Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is a multi-agency, strategic partnership in West Berkshire

SECTION 129A of the HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 allows the Council to make gating orders in respect of any footpath that is believed to be facilitating high persistent levels of crime.

Due to the largely rural nature of the area and its good transport links, West Berkshire experiences problems with hare coursing.
